Meet the man who signed Amy Winehouse.

Darcus Beese, President of Island Records - Britain's most treasured and maverick label - will be in conversation with BBC Radio 3's Late Junction presenter Max Reinhardt.

Between spinning tunes, they’ll discuss Amy's musical inspirations, her legacy and ongoing influence.

Ticket includes admission to the exhibition Amy Winehouse: A Family Portrait.

About Darcus Beese
Darcus grew up in a working class West London, West Indian family. With a passion for music, he joined Island Records as an intern.

Darcus eventually rose to the role of A&R Director after he signed Amy Winehouse who achieved global success with her five-time Grammy winning album 'Back to Black'. In 2008 Darcus was made Co-President of the label and in January 2013, assumed sole leadership of the label as President of Island Records. 

Other key signings during his tenure have included Jessie J, Florence & the Machine, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Ben Howard to name but a few. In 2014, Darcus was awarded an OBE for services to the UK music industry. 

Today, he manages the most eclectic major label roster in the country, a mix of superstars and up-and-coming talent.
