This page provides an overview of our teaching strategy for pupils studying Judaism at A-Level and AS-Level. Please contact an Education Officer to plan a customised programme for your pupils. |
The Museum encourages the most senior pupils to use the collection to develop their own in-depth investigation and presentations about the Jewish way of life. Student presentations promote discussion, leading to enhanced learning. Handling collections play a key role in explaining the ritual aspects of Jewish practice.
At this level it is possible to arrange workshops on specialist topics such as post-Holocaust theology or women in Judaism. Where appropriate, a specialist speaker or facilitator may be brought in to work with students. Background material is taken from both classical and modern Jewish sources, providing a sense of continuity and change in the Jewish tradition.
Pupils are also able to tour the West London Synagogue, a beautiful and historic 19th synagogue where education programmes are taking place while the Museum is re-developed.
